Week 1

Day 1 May 22, 2010

I have not finished the entire book yet, but I am inspired to begin my giving. I am working with two inexperienced prn employees tonight. I will be mindful of my attitude and make sure that I make myself avialable to any and all questions. I will not jude nor will I become annoyed at questions that are simple. I am giving the gift of my knowledge freely.

Day 2 May 23, 2010

I decided today to bring lunch for a coworker. My husband and I stop at PlanetSub when I work on the weekend shift for lunch. I decided that this coworker would probably enjoy lunch from a new restraunt for her. I am giving the gift of a hearty lunch.

Positive energy and a community spirit

29 gifts by Cami Walker
I discovered this book by accident. A review and exert were published in the latest issue of Women's Day magazine. I usually don't read their book reviews since they are not my genera, however the author's story caught my attention. Cami has MS and she is my age!!! She was dealing with several emotional issues and the pain associated with her illness. She had fallen into depression and self-loathing.
I could totally relate instantly. I instantly went online to Amazon to purchase this book. I
couldn't put it down. Living in chronic pain is debilitating. I have lived this way for nearly two years now and each day is a struggle. I have spent many days in bed having my very own pity party.
The premise of the book is simple, give 29 thoughtful gifts. Each day you must mindfully give a
gift. I can be a thought, prayer, encouraging comment or letter to a friend, or even a financial gift, but it must come from the heart. Not out of necessity. Cami states: Any endeavor undertaken in connection with others has great trans formative power. Her journey was heart warming and inspiring. Letting in the beauty of the world and accepting gifts in return with a Thank you.
I have decided to take this journey. I will try to note my 29 gifts on my blog over the next month. Many may be a though or attitude change, but I will mindfully allow the journey to change me and grow as a human. Please join me if you feel so inspired.
